Any suggestions for a catchy name?
I am forming a web page for my friend’s fishing charter business. Our mission is to cut the prices offered by the competition that are backed by large corporations. We offer the same services and can supply five sport fishing boats fully equipped with qualified personnel. My friend would like to use the term KISS (as in “keep it simple, sailor!”), but I’m not so sure. What do you think?
I agree with martin. Dont name it KISS, people might think your friend is running a floating cat house or something. LOL, no offense, but it also makes me think of the big haired rock band as well.
your friend’s idea is to cut cost for the customer. Its not a new idea, but certainly a great mission statement and great way to bump off your competition. What you wanna make sure of is to not sacrifice quality for lower price. This can get tricky, since the profits have to come from somewhere.
as far as a title, its not always necessary that you relay that message literally in the name of the business. For example, a serious customer looking for good quality product or service might see a catchy little title like “penny pinchers charting service” (lame i know..but to serve as an example) and automatically associate that with bad quality, without even checking it out for more info. What you want is a name that relays quality and style, and as a second message, relay the afordability, so the customer will be pleasantly surprised when they realize it will cost them a fraction of the competitions prices.
I would suggest things like the following:
Sport Anglers’ Charters
(this attracts your primary target market, sports fisherman)
Professional Quality, Affordable Charting Service
New Wave Charters:
(I happen to love the the name “new wave”. Its catchy, professional and modern)
Champion Charter Service, Inc
(words like champion relay quality)
No Wake Zone
(this could imply a relaxed, no-nonsense professional experience)
B.A:S:I:C (Best Affordable Service In Charting)
(this one if your friend insists on relaying the low price message in the company name, might be a good choice, or you can come up with an anogram that is similar)
Crystal Clear Charters
(another word that says “quality”, and it happens to be my name, that would be cool! =wink=)
Smooth Sailing Charter Service
(free of fear, comfortable yet upscale)
ok, these are just a few. At the end of each of these names you should include, in smaller letters one of the following:
“Professional Quality Service at an Affordable Price”
OR, you can drop the “charters” in some of the names (example, “new wave”, “smooth sailing”, Crystal Clear” or “Sports Anglers”) and add this:
Professional Quality, Affordable Charting Service
I really like a lot of these examples (new wave being my favorite). In my opinion they attract your primary target market, plus maybe others that just want to relax on the water, without sounding poor quality or unprofessional.
